Tetris 99 is a free online version of Tetris matching video games developed by Arika and launched by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch games in February 2019. Tetris 99 online features elements from the Battle Royale genre and has up to 99 players vying to complete the rankings with falling Tetriminos, which sends junk attacks to other players to kick them out of the game. Arika later developed similar games called Super Mario Bros. 35 and Pac-Man 99, including Super Mario Bros. and the Pac-Man games. The former also allowed a maximum of 35 players.
Playing Style
Tetris 99 download is a multiplayer puzzle game where 99 players complete versus each other simultaneously, intending to be the last player left. With the traditional Tetris formula, players spin shaped stones called Tetriminos and place them aboard. Players can eliminate Tetriminos by filling in rows on each side, while players lose if Tetriminos plays from the top of the board.
By deleting multiple rows or creating consecutive rows, players can spam other players displayed on the board unless they can quickly delete the rows in response. More spam can be sent by performing combined movements one at a time, creating a Tetris (equivalent to four rows at a time), or doing a T-spin (shooting Tetromino in a T-shape).
During the game, small bars appear on the sides of the motherboard to represent the other 98 players. Players can target individual players, or the computer is targeted other players based on four criteria: random players, those facing the player, those heading for defeat, and those with marks.
Badges are earned by killing a player with the trash (or grey lines) and giving them a badge and other badges or coins the player had. The more marks a player fills in and has more lines they can send to other players simultaneously (up to 100% increase).
At the end of a game, players gain experience that increases the level. The game also features regular Maximus Cup events. One of the first Maximus Cups took place in March 2019. Players with the most victories over a weekend could earn prizes through the My Nintendo loyalty program. These events allow players to purchase unique game themes based on other Nintendo Switch games.
Offline Modes
Nintendo launched paid downloadable content (DLC) for Big Block DLC in May 2019. The DLC introduces four new offline modes to the game:
- CPU Fight: In this mode, players compete against 98 AI bots.
- Marathon: In which players compete for the highest score.
- Local venue: In the local venue, up to eight Nintendo Switch people can play the same venue via local WiFi.
- Two-Player Share Combat: In this mode, players can share their pleasures in an endless Tetris game and play the same game in local co-op mode.
Nintendo Switch Tetris Classic
The game offers a wide range of playing styles, from solo adventures and challenging modes to fierce competition, with arcade modes for up to four players for many Tetris variations. In addition, a game store allows players to unlock new characters and skins for Puyos and Tetriminos.
- The game also has a single-player mode with ten individual actions, each with ten levels.
- There are various game modes in which 1-4 players can participate, ranging from classic versus mode to Fusion mode, which features Puyos and Tetriminos on each board.

Friends of Tetris
Tetris Friends was a Tetris game created by Tetris Online, Inc. for the internet. Registered users can compare the results with their friends and the community. It was the only official Flash implementation of Tetris created by The Tetris Company. It was also the only official Tetris platform announced before a Tetris Friends game with more than one million registered users.
Tetris Friends offered six single-player modes and five multiplayer modes. Playing any game mode gives tokens to a user. They can unlock new tetromino skins and styles, but it is also a premium ruby coin. The available version on Facebook contains only four modes available on the official website and no coin systems. However, there is a special mode that is only available on Facebook.
All game modes except Tetris 1989 and N-Blox used the SRS rotation system, had the lock feature that allowed players to save a block for future use, and had a four-trim preview to see the next block.
