PlayStation Plus is another gaming subscription service that provides access to thousands of games.
It is affordable for those who do not want to spend money on individual games. Although you cannot always play the latest games through a PS Plus Subscription, many good options exist.
PlayStation Now service has been merged with PlayStation Plus and is no longer available as a standalone membership.
The benefits of PlayStation Now are now part of the various membership plan options available in PlayStation Plus as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium plan options.

What is PlayStation Plus?
PlayStation Plus is a monthly subscription program allowing you to play hundreds of PS4, PS3, and PS2 games whenever possible.
You can think of it as Netflix but for PlayStation games instead of movies and TV shows. So is PS Plus worth it? There are over 800 games to select from right now.
This game library is updated monthly, so you always have new games to check out. And even if games are added and removed all the time, many games stay for a while, giving you plenty of time to play them.
You can play the games available via PS Plus on PS4 / PS4 Pro, PS5, or even your computer.
PS Plus is also the only (official) way to play exclusive PlayStation games on your PC or laptop. But, of course, they are streamed from the cloud and are not installed directly on your device.
How does PlayStation Plus Work?
PlayStation Plus is a subscription service offered by Sony for its PlayStation gaming consoles, including the PS3, PS4, PS5, and handheld devices. Here’s how it works:
- Subscription: PlayStation Plus is a paid service requiring monthly, quarterly, or annual subscriptions. The cost varies depending on the length of the subscription.
- Online Multiplayer: One of the main benefits of PlayStation Plus is that it allows you to play games online with other people. Most PS4 and PS5 games require a PlayStation Plus subscription for online multiplayer.
- Free Games: Each month, Sony offers a selection of free games to PlayStation Plus subscribers. These games can be downloaded and played as long as the PlayStation Plus subscription remains active.
- Discounts: PlayStation Plus subscribers often get exclusive discounts on games, DLC, and other content in the PlayStation Store.
- Cloud Storage: PlayStation Plus subscribers get access to 100GB of cloud storage, which can be used to store game saves. This allows you to continue your games on a different console, provided you’re logged into your PlayStation account.
- Early Access: Occasionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers get early access to demos and betas of upcoming games.
- Game Trials: PlayStation Plus offers full-game trials, allowing players to try out a game for a full hour before deciding whether to purchase it.
- Share Play: This feature allows your friends to join your game, even if they don’t own a copy. They can either watch you play, take over control for a bit, or play alongside you in multiplayer games.
Remember, the benefits of PlayStation Plus apply to the account that purchased the subscription.
If other accounts are on the same console, they can enjoy some benefits (like online multiplayer), but they won’t get the free monthly games or exclusive discounts.
How Do I Get a Free PlayStation Plus Trial?
Please note that the availability of a free trial may vary by region and over time. Also, free trials are typically only available to new subscribers.
If you are from a qualified country, follow these steps to activate your free trial of PlayStation Plus:
- Create a PlayStation Network account if you don’t already have one. You can do this on your PlayStation console or the PlayStation website.
- Go to the PlayStation Store. You can do this on your PlayStation console, the PlayStation website, or the PlayStation app.
- Search for “PlayStation Plus” in the PlayStation Store.
- Select the PlayStation Plus subscription that you want. There should be an option for a free trial if it’s available.
- Follow the prompts to sign up for the free trial. You will likely need to enter payment information, but you won’t be charged if you cancel before the trial period ends.

Is PlayStation Now or Plus Worth it?
PlayStation Now offers many games for the small amount they charge. And once again, this would imply that you would have to pay for these procedures.
If you are new to the game, this service is worth it. There are over 800 games to choose from, including many PS classics.
After skipping a few generations, if you just bought a new PS5, this is a great way to catch up.
You will still benefit from this service even if you have played PS games for the past ten years. You can try more minor games that you would never have bought and tried otherwise.
And having a gaming PC only increases the value you get from the subscription service. It’s great to switch between the computer and the console.
Some days you will play on the computer, and other days you will sit on the couch and play on the console. Yet, amazingly, you have the flexibility to change platforms so easily.
What Features Does the PS Plus Mobile Application Have?
There is currently no mobile application dedicated exclusively to PS Now. However, in the official PlayStation app, you can click on a link to the PS Plus page.
Here you can explore the games that are currently available with a subscription. However, we noticed a strange feature.
Even if your PS Plus subscription is activated and recognized in the app, it will be displayed as the total price when you search for games.
When you search for a game in the PS Store on a PS5 console, it will tell you if that game is in a PS Now or PS Plus subscription.
It is a pity that the mobile app does not notify you of the games included in your membership once you have paid for them. Hopefully, Sony will incorporate these improvements shortly.
PlayStation Plus Games
The PS Plus game collection changes every month. Many games seem to last long, while others are only available for a limited time. PS Plus Extra game list and premium can be found here.

If a game is only available for a particular time, you always know exactly when it will be removed.
Most games have continuous access, which does not mean they are still available to play but will not be closed anytime.
Some of the best titles on PS Plus are Horizon Zero Dawn, Doom, The Last of Us, Uncharted 3, and Bloodborne. But, of course, there are many other great titles to choose from.
